Dan Hoffman
Editor · verifies payments and books
Dan edits and verifies everything SharkPunt publishes. He has spent years working with payment methods and bookmakers, and he checks every coin, network, limit and term on a page against what the sportsbook states before it goes live.
What Dan checks
Dan’s job starts when James hands over a draft. He reads it against the sportsbook’s own cashier, help centre and terms, line by line, and a page doesn’t go live until every figure in it has a source.
Payments get the most attention, because that is where small errors cost readers money. A wrong network or an outdated minimum can mean a deposit that never arrives, so those rows are checked one by one.
- Coins and networks. Every coin and network in a payments table, with its minimum deposit, minimum withdrawal and fee.
- Limits and KYC. Deposit caps, withdrawal limits and the points where a book asks for ID, as written in its terms.
- Bonus terms. Rollover, minimum odds, maximum bet and expiry, matched to the offer page and the full terms.
- Licence and restrictions. The licence and its status on the regulator’s register, plus the countries a book does not accept.
If a book lists USDT on four networks, I check all four rows – minimum, fee and the network name the cashier uses. Readers copy those details straight into an exchange.
How we work together
Every SharkPunt page has two names on it. James Hunter writes it and Dan verifies it, and the steps below are the same for a review, a shortlist or a guide.
- James researches and writesHe collects the book’s sports, markets, margins, coins and terms from its own pages and builds the draft around them.
- Dan verifies the factsDan checks every payment figure, limit, coin, network and bonus term against the sportsbook’s cashier and terms, and flags anything he can’t confirm.
- Gaps are fixed or markedA figure that can’t be confirmed is removed or shown as “not stated” – it is never estimated.
- The page is published and kept currentWhen a book changes its terms or adds a coin, the page is updated and the change goes into its “What changed” box.
Pages Dan verified
These are some of the pages Dan verified. Each one shows both names in the byline, so you can see who wrote it and who checked the figures.
Report a wrong figure
